What Skincare is Suitable for Teenagers?

Do you want to start a skincare routine but also avoid spending around 5 million on a bunch of different products that are impossible to remember what they do?

The main difference between a skincare routine for teenagers and one designed for adults is primarily the anti-aging aspect. Wrinkles and fine lines aren't really a concern when you're between 12 and 20 years old. More mature skin may benefit from a slightly more detailed routine at times. However, skincare routines for teenagers and adults can look almost the same.

Regardless of age, a very important aspect of skincare is using it regularly (that is, every day). A shorter routine can be beneficial for teenagers, as they're more likely to stick to it if it's relatively simple.

I've put together a guide for teenagers on skincare—what you need, what’s nice to have, and what you can totally skip. Easy, right? Imagine a short routine that even a goldfish could remember by heart.

Okay, first things first—you need a cleanser. Hand soap or body wash doesn’t count. We want to cleanse the face and leave it feeling soft and smooth like a baby’s bottom, not tight and dry! The skin should feel soft. Here are some cleansers that have a nice price point, get the job done, and won't irritate your eyes.

Choose one product in each category; having multiple is unnecessary when you only have one face.

Number 2 - cream. Not the most exciting category, but we can't forget it. Here are some affordable creams that are suitable for teenage skin.
Lastly - a day cream with SPF. Unless you’re spending your days in a cave, a day cream with SPF is definitely preferred. Nothing expensive or fancy, just a good day cream that won’t cause breakouts.

Now we’re almost done, BUT do you have something you want to work on with your skin, like blemishes or maybe marks from previous breakouts? Here are some options; choose ONE product from each category.

Spots after pimples : Choose a azelainsyra paulas choice, azelainsyra geek and gorgeous.
If your skin constantly feels dry and tight: purito centella
If you have trouble removing makeup:  heimsh balm
If your skin feels constantly oily: paulas choice bha
If you find it hard not to pick at blemishes: Plåster cosrx
Day cream if you wear makeup: EVY

With the products I've mentioned, a typical day might look like this:

Morning - Cleanse your face, wait until your skin is dry, and apply your day cream. If your skin often feels dry, you can add a product from the "constantly dry and tight" category before your day cream.

Evening - If you wear makeup, you can add a product from the "hard to remove makeup" category, then use your regular cleanser, and finish with a cream. If you have issues with blemishes, you can add a product from the "blemishes" category before the cream.

That's it! And remember, a good skincare routine does not equal using the most products all at once.
