Wellness, Beauty & Selfcare.
When we mention concepts like wellness, beauty, or self-care, most people probably think of lengthy skincare routines or colorful baths with lit candles and a glass of wine.
In reality, that’s exactly how the media portrays it—but what do these concepts mean if we dig deeper?
For me, it’s so much more.
Wellness can be feeling comfortable in my own body or in clothes that fit perfectly or just serve their function—to warm my arms, legs, belly, and chest.
Beauty can be achieving that perfect smoky eye makeup or being okay with going completely makeup-free.
Self-care can be learning to set boundaries in my relationships or sometimes being able to turn off my phone, TV, and computer to give my full attention to that book I've wanted to read for so long.
Often, we talk about how harmful and unrealistic social media can be.
But very rarely do we discuss all the wonderful things it brings.
Like connecting with new people you might never have met if it weren’t for Instagram, Facebook, or Clubhouse.
Getting to know someone who was once a complete stranger.
Initially, over something that, to some, might seem superficial like skincare.
Only to realize all the other things we have in common.
Maybe we’re the same age, maybe we share the same taste in music, and maybe we both need friends.
Regardless, there’s a depth to everything that often gets overshadowed.
Imagine finding your favorite people through a shared interest or platform, making beauty and self-care something much larger and more important than you initially thought!
Keep finding and embracing your fellow aliens.
