Smooth Out is a strong leave-on AHA exfoliating toner with a 12% glycolic and lactic acid combination, designed to remove dead skin cells from the skin surface for smoother, brighter and fresher-looking skin.

Surface exfoliation

AHAs work on the surface of the skin, helping loosen dead skin cells that can make skin look dull, rough or uneven. This helps skin feel smoother and look fresher.

Glow and tone support

Regular AHA exfoliation supports surface renewal and a more even-looking tone. Skin looks brighter, more radiant and less dull over time.

Comfort support

Phospholipids, sphingolipids, magnesium carboxymethyl beta-glucan, panthenol and bisabolol support comfort in a stronger exfoliating formula. This helps the skin feel more supported while using a strong 12% AHA toner.

AHA / Alpha Hydroxy Acids

A surface-exfoliating acid group that helps loosen dead skin cell buildup. In Smooth Out, the 12% AHA blend supports smoother texture, brighter-looking skin and a more even-looking tone.

Glycolic Acid

A well-known AHA used for dullness, uneven texture, fine lines and visible signs of ageing. It helps refine the skin surface so the skin looks fresher, smoother and more radiant.

Lactic Acid

An AHA that exfoliates the skin surface while also offering humectant support. It helps improve the look of roughness and uneven tone while supporting a softer skin feel.

Prickly Pear / Nopal Cactus Extract

A soothing support ingredient used to help make the exfoliating formula feel more comfortable on the skin. It supports the product’s balance between stronger AHA exfoliation and skin comfort.

Magnesium Carboxymethyl Beta-Glucan

A beta-glucan derivative that adds antioxidant and barrier-comfort support. It helps the skin feel more supported and comfortable alongside the exfoliating acid blend.

Use in the evening after cleansing, before serums and moisturiser. Apply with a cotton pad or pour into hands and pat onto completely dry skin to reduce tingling.

Start once a week and increase gradually depending on your skin’s tolerance, up to once daily if well tolerated. Avoid the eye area, do not use with other exfoliants or scrubs in the same routine, and use SPF in the morning.

What does Smooth Out do?

Because AHAs increase surface renewal, they can also make the skin more sensitive to the sun, so sunscreen is important during the day.

Who is Smooth Out best for?

Smooth Out is best for most skin types focused on dullness, uneven texture, dark spots, hyperpigmentation, fine lines or ageing signs. It is not the best match for very sensitive or redness-prone skin.

How often should I use Smooth Out?

Start once a week, especially if your skin is new to AHAs. If your skin tolerates it well, increase gradually. Some skin may tolerate more frequent use, but daily use should only be considered once the skin is fully adjusted.

Can I use Smooth Out with retinoids or other exfoliating acids?

Avoid using Smooth Out in the same routine as retinoids, other exfoliating acids, scrubs, benzoyl peroxide or strong vitamin C. Smooth Out is already a strong leave-on 12% AHA exfoliant, so stacking it with other strong actives can increase the risk of dryness, stinging, redness or barrier discomfort. Keep routines simple: use Smooth Out on exfoliation nights, and use retinoids or other strong actives on alternate nights. Always follow with moisturiser and use SPF in the morning.

Is Smooth Out suitable for sensitive skin?

Smooth Out is not the best choice for very sensitive or redness-prone skin. It is a strong 12% AHA exfoliating toner and may cause tingling, especially when introduced. Sensitive skin should choose a gentler exfoliant and introduce acids slowly.

What is the difference between Cheer Up, Calm Down and Smooth Out?

All three are Geek & Gorgeous exfoliating toners, but they suit different skin needs. Calm Down is the gentlest option, with 4% PHA + BHA for sensitive or redness-prone skin that wants mild exfoliation with hydration and soothing support. Cheer Up is the combination-skin option, with 6% mandelic acid + BHA to work on both surface texture and inside the pores, making it better for blackheads, excess oil, enlarged-looking pores and post-blemish marks. Smooth Out is the strongest AHA option, with 12% glycolic and lactic acid for dullness, uneven texture, dark spots, fine lines and loss of glow. Choose Calm Down for sensitivity, Cheer Up for combination/oily and blemish-prone skin, and Smooth Out for stronger surface exfoliation and glow.

Can I use Smooth Out while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Pregnancy and breastfeeding safety are not clearly supported for this product. Because it is a leave-on 12% AHA exfoliating toner, check with your healthcare provider before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
