Keratosis pilaris is caused by a buildup of keratin in pores.
Keratin is a protein naturally found in the body, but it can build up in the opening of your pores. When that happens the skin gets covered in dry, rough patches and tiny bumps.
It is not clear why keratin builds up in people with keratosis pilaris. Contributing factors are diet, type of washing detergent, genetics and fitness level.
To reduce KP, its important to use gentle body washes, exfoliants and moisturisers. We have selected the best products that gently but effectively reduce the keratin build up.
Look for products containing Urea and Poly hydroxy Acids as they both "unglog" dead skin cells while attracting moisture to the skin, keeping it hydrated.
